ANT 215

Fight the Power

Fight the Power explores the efforts of Black and Indigenous communities to subvert, resist, overthrow, and persist in the face of oppression. Over the course of the semester, students will develop a critical understanding of the racialized, gendered, and economic dimensions of hegemonic power and the impacts of these structures in the past and in the contemporary world. In examining the power-resistance dynamic, this course takes a comparative approach that examines anti-colonial struggles in North America, Africa, and the Caribbean.
