indigenous archaeologies

In Indigenous Archaeologies, we ask “ how can archaeologists work to connect Indigenous practices in the past to Native peoples in the present?” Over the course of the semester we trace the evolution of Indigenous Archaeology as an archaeological approach, including the colonial roots of anthropology, Indigenous activism, and the development of community-based research methods. Key themes covered in the course are Indigenous persistence, survivance, refusal, futurity, and resurgence.
